Alabama Track & Field Heads to Bloomington for Indiana University Relays

The Crimson Tide travel to Gladstein Fieldhouse for the two-day event
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama track & field program hits the road this weekend to compete in the 2020 Indiana University Relays in Bloomington, Ind., which takes place on Friday, Jan. 31 and Saturday, Feb. 1.
Indiana University Relays
- Competition on the first day of the meet is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. CT with the women's weight throw and Saturday's second day of competition will begin at 9:45 a.m. CT with the women's 60m hurdles.
- In addition to the Crimson Tide, this weekend's meet welcomes 16 teams to the two-day meet.
- Four of the 16 teams competing this weekend are ranked in the men's top-25. Florida State (1), Wisconsin (16), Iowa State (20) and Illinois (21) are all among the nation's best. Other solid men's and women's competitors include California Riverside, Cincinnati, Georgetown, Indiana, Indiana State, Miami (Oh), Middle Tennessee, Mississippi, Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois, Tulsa, and Xavier.
Last Time Out
- Alabama followed up the UAB Blazer Invitational back at the Samford Invitational on Jan. 17, posting 12 wins and 29 top-three finishes.
- Junior Isaac Odugbesan threw a personal record in shot put with a mark of 64-1 (19.53m) which also broke the record for the meet.
- In their first races of the indoor season, freshman Grady Shiflet (1:54.93) picked up a win in the men's 800-meter with junior Elliot Gindi (1:59.88) following closely behind to take home second place.
- Both the men and the women went 1-2 in the 60-meter dash. Senior Alize Ford (6.80) and junior Champion Allison (6.86) competed for the men and junior Daija Lampkin (7.49) and freshman Talaya Lewis (7.61) competed for the Crimson Tide women.
- Alabama finished the day with strong performances in the 4x400-meter relay with both the men's and women's teams going 1-2.
