The Tide took part in a practice-scrimmage split on Friday afternoon at Sewell-Thomas Stadium
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama baseball kicked off the spring season with its first official practice on Friday afternoon at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The Crimson Tide took part in a quick workout followed by a six-inning intrasquad scrimmage.
Friday began at 2 p.m. CT with the Tide running through drills and infield/outfield work before batting practice. The team then split in half for a six-inning intrasquad scrimmage to close out the on-field activity. The day was capped off with interviews from head coach Brad Bohannon along with sophomores Tyler Ras and T.J. Reeves.
"It was a really good first day," said Bohannon. "The spirit of this team is really good. These kids really like to play, they're very serious about being good at baseball, they really like each other, and we're as healthy as we've been. We're at a really, really good starting point, and I think after a couple more weekends playing against each other, we'll be ready to play some really good baseball."
Alabama will take part in two more practice-scrimmage splits on Saturday and Sunday to close out week one. Saturday's session is slated for an 11:30 a.m. start to practice followed by a 1 p.m. first pitch in the scrimmage. The Sunday schedule is set to begin at 10 a.m. followed by an 11:30 a.m. intrasquad matchup.
Also on Saturday, the baseball team will be at the men's basketball game signing autographs on the main concourse. Fans can come pick up the 2020 poster, meet the team and get autographs from 4:15-4:45 p.m. prior to Alabama's matchup on the hardwood with Kansas State.
Admission to Sewell-Thomas Stadium for Alabama baseball's on-field activity is free to the public. Fans are asked to enter The Joe through the main gates (Gates 1-3) located directly behind home plate. Once inside, fans are to stay in the lower bowl seating area with access to the upper levels of the stadium strictly prohibited.
