Happy New Year from Alabama Athletics
On behalf of all of us here in Alabama Athletics, Happy New Year! Thank you for your continued support of the Crimson Tide. We look forward to making more memories and celebrating lots of victories in 2020.
Vrbo Citrus Bowl Champions
Congratulations to our student-athletes, coaches and staff on their 35-16 win over Michigan in the 2020 Vrbo Citrus Bowl. The victory was our 11th of the season, putting Alabama at 11+ wins for the ninth consecutive season, which is the longest streak in the poll era (since 1926). Truly a remarkable feat that we are all very proud of!
Graduate Patches
One of the things that really stood out during our Citrus Bowl win was the number of our players wearing SEC Graduate patches on their jersey. In all, 22 members of our 2019 roster came into bowl week having already earned their degrees, including eight of Wednesday's starters – Mike Bernier, Shyheim Carter, Raekwon Davis, Landon Dickerson, Miller Forristall, Anfernee Jennings (who has not one, but two bachelor's degrees), Mac Jones and Jared Mayden. In all, Alabama football players have earned 173 degrees since 2013 while still suiting up and since 2010, Tide players have earned 24 master's degrees. All that adds up to an amazing academic legacy for our program.
Basketball Rolling into SEC Season
Southeastern Conference play begins this week for our basketball teams, starting with tonight's women's game at LSU that tips at 7:40 p.m. CT. Our men then head to Gainesville for a Saturday evening matchup with the Gators at 5 p.m. CT. The league home slate debuts for our women on Sunday when they welcome a top-5 South Carolina squad at 5 p.m. CT, while the men host Mississippi State on Wednesday, January 8 at 6 p.m. CT.
Indoor Track & Field, Gymnastics and Men's Tennis in Action Next Week
In addition to our basketball and swimming & diving teams, our indoor track & field, gymnastics and men's tennis squads will open up with their competitive seasons next week. Track & field is slated to compete on Friday at the UAB Blazer Invitational in Birmingham, while men's tennis hosts the Alabama Spring Shootout Friday through Sunday. Gymnastics begins 2020 on the road versus Auburn at 8 p.m. We are certainly excited for three more of our teams to be in action and wish them all the best of luck as they begin their seasons!
Premium Seating at Bryant-Denny Stadium Going Fast
New premium seating will be available in Bryant-Denny Stadium for the 2020 season, and it is selling quickly! There is limited inventory available in the Champions Club, Terrace Club and Loge Boxes. Secure your seats before they are sold out! Contact the Crimson Tide Foundation at 205-348-9727 or ctf@ia.ua.edu. Remember, everyone is eligible for these premium seating options.
