Alabama Begins 2020 Dual Match Slate with Doubleheaders on Saturday and Monday

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's tennis team will start its 2020 dual match season with doubleheaders on Saturday, Jan. 18 and Monday, Jan. 20 inside the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Indoor Tennis Facility. The Crimson Tide begins the four-match homestand with UAB at 1 p.m. on Saturday followed by Chattanooga at 6 p.m., on Monday the Tide will take on Samford at 1 p.m. and North Alabama at 6 p.m.

Team Info

Last weekend in the Alabama Spring Shootout the Tide went 17-2 in its singles matches and 11-5 in doubles against opponents from South Alabama and North Carolina.
Alabama is receiving votes in the latest Oracel/ITA Team Rankings.
The Crimson Tide returns eight of 10 players from the 2018-19 roster, including three seniors in Edson Ortiz, Alexey Nesterov and Zhe Zhou. Ortiz was named First Team All-SEC in 2019.
Junior Riccardo Roberto finished the fall as the No. 96 singles player in the country after compiling a 7-3 individual mark. Roberto and Nesterov are also the No. 40 doubles pair entering the 2020 season.
Individually, Nesterov and junior Sam Fischer ended the 2019 fall season with the best singles records on the team with a 10-3 mark respectively. Nesterov also had the most doubles wins with a 12-1 record.
