TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama rowing senior Keilani Hamann was one of 1,500 students from across the country to participate in the National Retail Federation Big Show in New York City, N.Y. earlier this month.
"Attending the NRF Student Big Show was such a rewarding experience to be able to learn from some of the industry's top leaders," Hamann said. I'm hoping to be able to transfer over what I learned at the conference to my current career as a student-athlete and my career post-graduation."
The three-day program offered college students the opportunity to hear from individuals representing a variety of global retail brands, tour storefronts, and attend a career fair to help further jump-start their careers. The event also held breakout mentoring sessions where students got to network and learn more from the industry advisers.
Some of the notable keynote speakers in attendance included Jeff Gennette, CEO of Macy's, Emily Chang, the CMO of Starbucks, and J.K. Symancyk, who is the CEO of Petsmart.
Hamann was one of 12 Culverhouse College of Business students selected to attend the show.
