Crimson Tide Coaching Staff Elects Six Players of the Week following Alabama’s Win over New Mexico State

Two selections on offense, three on defense and one on special teams
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama coaching staff named six players of the week following the Crimson Tide's 62-10 victory over New Mexico State at Bryant-Denny Stadium last Saturday. Jerry Jeudy and DeVonta Smith on offense; Trevon Diggs, Anfernee Jennings and Xavier McKinney on defense; and Will Reichard on special teams were all selected for the efforts against the Aggies in the Tide's 2019 home opener.
OFFENSE
- Led all Alabama wideouts for a second straight week with eight catches for 103 yards and a career-high three receiving touchdowns
- The junior recorded a second straight 100-plus yard performance and the seventh game over 100 yards receiving for his Crimson Tide career.
- Jeudy's three touchdown receptions moved him into sole possession of second place on Alabama's career touchdowns receptions list with 20. He now trails only Amari Cooper (2012-14), who totaled 31 in his three years in the Crimson and White.
- Hauled in five receptions for 47 yards with a long of 22 yards
- Three of the Smith's five receptions resulted in a Crimson Tide first down
- The junior has now recorded five receptions in each of his first two games of the season and ranks second on the Tide for catches with 10 totaling 101 yards.
DEFENSE
- Totaled four tackles from his starting corner spot
- Helped Alabama limit the Aggies to only 161 yards through the air on Saturday
- Recorded three total tackles on the day to earn the recognition from the UA coaches for a second consecutive week
- Spent the afternoon in the New Mexico State backfield, finishing with one sack (-7 yards) and two quarterback hurries
- Tied for the team-high mark in tackles with six while adding one quarterback hurry, part of UA's eight total quarterback pressures on the day
- Forced a fumble that was recovered by the Tide, one of three turnovers forced by the Alabama defense
- Directed a Crimson Tide defensive unit that allowed just 262 yards on the day
SPECIAL TEAMS
- Totaled 14 points in his first home game at Bryant-Denny Stadium
- Finished a perfect 8-of-8 on PATs while adding made field goals from 48 and 49 yards out
- Added 10 kickoffs for 647 yards with touchbacks on nine of his kicks
