Former Alabama players continue their success on both sides of the ball
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The second week of the new season in the National Football League wrapped up on Monday. Below is a look at some of the week two highlights from former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL.
Atlanta's wide receiver duo of Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley helped the Falcons to a 24-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Ridley caught eight passes for 105 yards and a touchdown, while Jones tallied 106 yards on five catches and added two scores. Also standing out on offense was the Titans' Derrick Henry. The Tennessee running back continued his solid start to the season, carrying the ball 15 times for 81 yards and a touchdown.
Alabama's former defensive backs also had impressive individual performances, highlighted by Eddie Jackson of the Chicago Bears. Jackson posted 10 tackles and two pass breakups in the Bears' Sunday win over the Broncos. Fellow safety Ronnie Harrison finished his afternoon ranked second in the Jaguars in tackles. Harrison combined for eight total tackles, including one sack, in Jacksonville's matchup with the Houston Texans.
In what turned out to be his final game with the Dolphins, Minkah Fitzpatrick recorded six total tackles and a fumble recovery before being traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier this week. Staying in the AFC East, Levi Wallace put together a big game for the Buffalo Bills. The second-year starter notched eight tackles and a pass breakup from his cornerback spot, helping the Bills to a 28-14 win over the New York Giants.
The Redskins group of former Alabama defenders also had a strong day against the Dallas Cowboys. Landon Collins led Washington in tackles with 12 stops, including a tackle for loss. He was joined by former Crimson Tide standouts Shaun Dion Hamilton, Da'Ron Payne and Ryan Anderson, with the trio combining for 11 total tackles.
