TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama volleyball gained a late addition to its 2019 roster in Florida State graduate transfer Brooke Kuhlman, an All-American beach volleyball player with the Seminoles.
"We are excited to have another graduate transfer join our team this fall," UA head coach Lindsey Devine said. "Brooke comes to our program after playing for an elite beach program at FSU. We look forward to her sharing her passion, experience and leadership with our team."
She led Florida State to the National Championship tournament all four years, including runner-up finishes in 2016 and 2018, as well as four Coastal Collegiate Sports Association league titles. Kuhlman earned AVCA All-America honors as a sophomore in 2017, posting a 7-2 postseason record with partner Leigh Andrew. Paired with Molly McBain in 2018, the two went 15-3 including one win in the national championship match against UCLA.
Kuhlman is a Naples, Fla., native and played prep volleyball at Barron Collier High School, where she was named the 6A District Player of the Year in 2015. She played on her club USA South's elite team as an outside hitter, qualifying for Junior Nationals in 2014. Additionally, she was selected for the A1 USAV National Beach Volleyball Team in the summer of 2015 and later won the BVCA National Championship.
Kuhlman and her new Crimson Tide teammates open the 2019 season with an exhibition match against South Alabama on Saturday, Aug. 24, at 2 p.m. CT at Foster Auditorium, before beginning the season proper with three matches the following weekend at the UB Invite in Buffalo, N.Y.
