2019-20 Athletics Regular Season Kicks off Next Week
Welcome back to what is sure to be another exciting athletics season for the Crimson Tide! The 2019-20 campaign officially gets underway on Thursday, August 22 when soccer hosts BYU at 7 p.m. In the meantime, we have a pair of exhibition matchups on deck to get an early look at both our soccer and volleyball teams. Head Coach Wes Hart's squad already has one impressive exhibition victory in the books having shutout UCF last weekend, 3-0, and will welcome South Alabama tomorrow (Saturday, August 17) at 6 p.m. Our volleyball team, under the direction of first-year head coach Lindsey Devine, will also take on the Jaguars of South Alabama in exhibition play. That match is set for Saturday, August 24 at 2 p.m.
Thoughts and Prayers with Chris Stewart as he Recovers from Surgery
As you may have seen or heard, our broadcast host Chris Stewart underwent heart bypass surgery on Monday. We are thrilled to hear that he is doing great and will continue to keep him in our thoughts and prayers as he recovers.
Bryant-Denny Just got Brighter (And More Colorful)
We recently installed 174 LED white lights at Bryant-Denny Stadium, doubling the light levels on the field. We also added 60 LED color light fixtures that, in addition to the white lights, have instant on/off capabilities, are fully dimmable and use 50 percent less energy than the previous fixtures. Check out the video our crew put together, and make sure you watch with the sound on!
Tickets Remain for Football Opener in Atlanta
Tickets remain for our football season opener in Atlanta and can still be purchased. Join us as we take part in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff game against Duke on Saturday, August 31 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Our women's basketball team just returned from an eight-day trip to Canada where it went 3-0 in competition, scoring over 100 points in each effort. In addition to its games, the team had the opportunity to enjoy and experience lots of what Vancouver, Victoria and Whistler had to offer. More than 125 Crimson Tide Student-Athletes Graduate During the 2018-19 Academic Year
We are proud of the 16 Crimson Tide student-athletes who received degrees during Summer Commencement Ceremonies earlier this month. For the 2018-19 academic year, Alabama Athletics tallied more than 125 graduates including five NCAA Champions, 27 All-Americans and seven Academic All-Americans. That total also included 20 master's degrees between our winter, spring and summer graduates. Those numbers speak volumes about the emphasis that our student-athletes, coaches and staff place on excellence in all areas of the collegiate experience.
Alabama Athletics Tallies Double Digit Academic All-Americans During 2018-19
Alabama Athletics continues to produce CoSIDA Academic All-Americans at record-breaking rate, including 10 during the past academic year. That total makes Alabama the only school in the nation to earn double-digit Academic All-America accolades each of the last six years. Our student-athletes have the honors 66 times during that span, totaling five better than second-place Stanford. With our 2018-19 tally, we have earned Academic All-America recognition a Division I-best 98 times since the 2009-10 academic year and a Southeastern Conference best 180 honors all-time, which ranks fifth among NCAA Division I schools.
Tide Totals Priority Points Calculation Deadline Approaching
The September 1 Tide Totals priority points calculation deadline is quickly approaching. TIDE PRIDE members can support the education of our student-athletes while earning Tide Totals priority points by donating to the Crimson Tide Scholarship Fund (CTSF). The CTSF provides annual scholarship support for our student-athletes, offsetting the costs of tuition, educational fees, books, and room and board. Donors to the CTSF earn three Tide Totals points per $100 donated.
University Spotlight
This should come as no surprise, but still definitely worth sharing. The hashtag #RollTide is the most popular hashtag among all universities across the United States on Instagram. The AT&T study showed that nearly 60 percent of our student body has at least one post using #RollTide.
#RollTideFriday
It's great to see the momentum of our #RollTideFriday social campaign continue on throughout the summer months. We are going to kick off this season's features with Kent Chambers from Costa Maya, Mexico and Nancy Mills at Katmai National Park in Alaska.
