Haylie McCleney Leads Team USA Offense in Gold Medal Performance at Pan American Games

LIMA, Peru – Alabama All-American Haylie McCleney led Team USA's offense at last week's Pan American Games, guiding the group to its ninth gold medal in the event.
The team went 5-0 over its first five games, outscoring its opponents 37-1, before falling to Canada on Friday. A two-run win over Puerto Rico Saturday set up a rematch with Canada in the championship game, with the U.S. coming out victorious, 3-1.
Over the week's seven games, McCleney batted .565 with a team-leading 13 hits in 23 at-bats. She also led the team with nine runs scored and three home runs. Five of her seven games were multi-hit performances for the 2016 Crimson Tide graduate, including consecutive three-hit showings against Puerto Rico (Aug. 5), Canada (Aug. 6) and Venezuela (Aug. 7).
Team USA will conclude its 2019 schedule at the Japan Cup, which begins Aug. 30 in Takasaki City.
