
Southeastern Conference Announces Matchups for 2019 Big 12/SEC Challenge

The Crimson Tide will host the Iowa State Cyclones on Dec. 5 inside Coleman Coliseum
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference released the matchups for the 2019 Big 12/SEC Challenge on Monday, which features Alabama hosting Iowa State on Thursday, Dec. 5 in Coleman Coliseum.
Alabama is 1-1 all-time in the Big 12/SEC challenge after the Tide claimed the 71-65 overtime win against Kansas in its inaugural appearance in the challenge on Dec. 4, 2016 in Tuscaloosa. The following season, UA dropped its game to TCU in Fort Worth, Texas, on Dec. 1 in the 2017 Big 12/SEC challenge.
The December matchup against Iowa State will be the third between the two programs, with the series tied at 1-1 and the last meeting coming on Nov. 29, 1998. The Cyclones finished the 2018-19 season with a 26-9 record and an appearance in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.
The 2019-20 Crimson Tide returns 84 percent of its scoring from last year's team which includes 11 returners. Alabama sports four newcomers on the 2019-20 squad and in addition will have Shelby Gibson, Jordan Lewis and Amber Richardson all eligible for this upcoming season after taking a redshirt year in 2018-19.
