Alabama Women’s Tennis Heavily Represented in the ITA Regional Awards

Jenny Mainz was named Coach of the Year, Jonatan Berhane Assistant Coach of the Year and Andie Daniell Senior Player of the Year, among others
TEMPE, Ariz. – The Alabama women's tennis team is heavily represented in this season's Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Awards, highlighted by head coach Jenny Mainz being named the Wilson/ITA Southern Region Coach of the Year, the organization announced on Saturday.
Mainz earned the regional award, after guiding the Crimson Tide to an 18-12 record and six Southeastern Conference regular season wins, which led to the team's first NCAA Championships appearance since 2015. Assistant Coach Jonatan Berhane was also honored in his first year with the program after he was named the ITA Southern Region Assistant Coach of the Year.
In addition, junior Alba Cortina Pou earned the Southern Region Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award for her first-class attitude on and off the court, while Andie Daniell was honored as the ITA Southern Region Senior Player of the Year. Daniell led the team in her final season with a 24-9 singles record, including an 11-6 mark against nationally-ranked opponents. Daniell is currently ranked No. 35 in the country and earned a bid to the NCAA Singles Championships, which are set to begin on Monday, May 20 in Orlando, Fla.
The draws are yet to be announced for the singles championships.
