Alabama Track and Field Remains Ranked in the Top-10 Nationally

The Crimson Tide women are No. 6 and the men are No. 7 in this week’s ranking, finishing out the regular season in the top-10
NEW ORLEANS – The Alabama track and field women are No. 6 and the men are No. 7 in this week's NCAA Division I Track & Field National Rating Index, the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced. It is the highest ranking of the outdoor season for the Crimson Tide women.
The index, a points system maintained by the USTFCCCA, lists the Tide women with 182.97 points, which ranks No. 1 in the South region, while the men are credited with 186.50 points, which ranks second in the South region.
Alabama finished its regular-season slate with a strong showing at the LSU Invitational and is set to open postseason competition at the SEC Championships, May 9-11. The Tide has 29 individual performances ranked in the top-25 in NCAA Division I this week, including eight in the top-10.
Portious Warren leads the way for the Tide after a school-record throw of 61-0.75 (18.61m) in the women's shot put at last weekend's LSU Invitational, which ranks the senior No. 1 in the NCAA and No. 5 in the world in 2019. Senior Kiara Williams also had a big weekend in Baton Rouge, posting a career-best leap of 21-3.25 (6.48m) in the long jump, which ranks her fifth nationally.
