
Alabama Men’s Golf Earns 15th Consecutive NCAA Regional Appearance

Crimson Tide is the No. 5 seed in the Athens Regional, which will take place May 13-15 in Athens, Ga.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 21 Alabama men's golf team was selected to compete in the 2019 NCAA Men's Golf Athens Regional, which was announced Wednesday night live on the Golf Channel. The three-day, 54-hole regional will be held on May 13-15 in Athens, Ga., at the par 71, 7,253-yard University of Georgia Golf Course.
With its selection, the Crimson Tide will make its 15th consecutive appearance in NCAA Regional play under head coach Jay Seawell, and the 23rd appearance overall. Alabama has won an NCAA Regional four times, three of which have come over the last seven years. The team claimed the 2009 NCAA Galloway (N.J.) Regional, the 2012 NCAA Athens (Ga.) Regional, the 2013 NCAA Baton Rouge (La.) Regional and the 2014 NCAA Auburn (Ala.) Regional. Last year, the Crimson Tide finished fourth at the NCAA Stockton (Ca.) Regional.
This year's Athens Regional, which is hosted by The University of Georgia, features No. 1 seed and fourth-ranked Vanderbilt, followed by the No. 2 seed and ninth-ranked Duke, No. 3 seed and 14th-ranked Georgia, No. 4 and 19th-ranked Liberty, with the Crimson Tide rounding out the top-five teams in the regional. The rest of the 13-team field includes: No. 6 and 36th-ranked Tennessee, No. 7 Campbell, No. 8 Kentucky, No. 9 Nevada, No. 10 SMU, No. 11 Memphis, No. 12 UNC Wilmington and No. 13 Princeton.
Five of the 13 teams competing in Athens are from the Southeastern Conference. In fact, a total of 13 SEC teams earned a regional spot in this year's event.
The top five teams from each regional championship and low individual not on an advancing team will move on to the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships, hosted by the University of Arkansas at the Blessings Golf Club, in Fayetteville, Ark. on May 24-29.
The Crimson Tide has advanced to nationals 11 times under head coach Jay Seawell, including seven of the last eight seasons. Alabama has won the national championship twice (2013 and 2014) and has finished runner up on two occasions (2012 and 2018).
