Alabama Rowing Heads to Sarasota for the Sunshine State Invitational

The No. 1 seeded Crimson Tide will one of 11 schools featured, two of which are conference foes
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – In its third road trip of the season, No. 18 Alabama rowing heads to Sarasota, Fla., for the Sunshine State Invitational as the No. 1 seed.
"We are really looking forward to this weekend of racing," UA head coach Glenn Putyrae said. "This weekend, the format is a traditional progression of heats and finals. The field is deep and competitive; it is going to be a really tough test."
Alabama will be joined by Big 12 conference foes Kansas and Kansas State. The rest of the field will feature Central Florida, Clemson, Jacksonville, Louisville, Miami (Fla.), Old Dominion, SMU, Stetson and Tulsa.
The results of Friday's heats will determine Saturday's races, with teams finishing in either the grand or petite finals.
The Crimson Tide opens competition in Heat 1 Friday afternoon at 2:20 p.m. CT in the Second Varsity 4+. The heat will feature UCF, Clemson, Kansas and Old Dominion. The Tide's Third Varsity 4+ will also be competing in the 2V4+ heat.
At 3 p.m. CT, the Tide's First Varsity 4+ will race in Heat 1 along with UCF, Clemson, Kansas, Old Dominion and Stetson. At 3:20 p.m. CT, Alabama's Third Varsity 8+ will square off against UCF, Clemson, Jacksonville, Kansas, Kansas State and Miami (FL).
At 3:50 p.m. CT, the Tide's Second Varsity 8+ will race in Heat 1 against UCF, Clemson, Kansas, Old Dominion and Stetson with Alabama's First Varsity 8+ wrapping up day-one action at 4:10 p.m. CT in Heat 1 against the same schools.
The Tide's Saturday schedule will be announced following Friday's results.
