Alabama’s Portious Warren Earns Second SEC Field Athlete of the Week Accolade

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the second time in three weeks, Alabama's Portious Warren earned Southeastern Conference Field Athlete of the Week recognition the league office announced Tuesday.
The senior earned the honor after a school-record throw at the LSU Invitational that ranks her fifth in the world in the shot put.
Warren won the shot put at the LSU Invitational last Saturday with a monster throw of 61-0.75 (18.61m), the best throw in the NCAA this season by nearly two feet and the school record by more than three feet. She also added a mark of 60-4.75 in Baton Rouge, giving her the only two throws over 59-2 in collegiate competition this season.
With the regular season in the books, Warren and the Crimson Tide open the postseason at the SEC Outdoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., May 9-11.
