CLEMSON, S.C. – No. 20 Alabama rowing heads home early after the cancellation of the 2019 Clemson Invitational due to inclement weather.
What was supposed to be a Friday-Saturday schedule ended up being moved to a heat-to-final race on Saturday. With storms in the surrounding area throughout the day, all racing was cancelled for Friday.
The teams arrived to the race course early Saturday morning with the First Varsity 8+ crews and Second Varsity 8+ crews seeing action, before racing was cancelled again due to debris and high winds on the course. After a 30-minute delay, it was decided that the Invite would be cancelled and that the results from the 1V8+ and 2V8+ races would not count.
Alabama will be back on the road next week, heading to Dallas to face the SMU Mustangs Saturday, April 27. It will be the last race of the regular season for the Tide before the Big 12 Conference Championships, May 18-19.
