The three-day camp camp is open to high school aged kids
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama baseball staff is set to host the 2019 Elite Camp from July 14-16 at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The three-day event, which is open to high schoolers (grades 9-12; ages 14-18), will begin at 1:30 p.m. CT on Sunday, July 14 and conclude on Tuesday, July 16.
Participants at the Alabama Baseball Elite Camp will get the full experience of what it is like to be a member of the Crimson Tide baseball team. The campers will be housed in the University's dorms, receive all necessary meals during the camp's duration and will also get a locker inside The Joe. Attendees will also partake in informational sessions that will provide valuable insight into what it takes to be a college baseball player academically and the steps to becoming NCAA eligible.
While on the field, campers will be put through a pro-style workout, receive skill instruction from the Alabama coaches and then take part in a scrimmage. Campers are asked to bring their bats, batting gloves, cleats, turf shoes and catcher's gear (if applicable). Those in attendance will receive two practice shirts, a pair of practice shorts and a uniform for the duration of camp that will be worn during workouts. Campers are also asked to bring bedding and any personal items needed for the dorm.
The camp is open to 40 participants in total. Due to the limited number of spots, campers will have the opportunity to showcase their skills at multiple positions during scrimmage situations. Players who are typically "pitchers only" will have the opportunity to hit. Players that are typically position players will also receive the opportunity to work on the mound. A set number of spots will be reserved for catchers at the camp, as well.
