Alabama in 13th After Opening Round of 2019 SEC Women’s Golf Championships

Crimson Tide finished round one at 13-over par 301
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The No. 36-ranked Alabama women's golf team finds itself in 13th place at the 2019 SEC Women's Golf Championships on Wednesday. The Crimson Tide finished the day shooting a 13-over par 301 during the opening round at Greystone Golf and Country Club.
With the score, the Crimson Tide finds itself five strokes back of the cut line for match play, which begins Saturday with only the top eight teams advancing.
After 18 holes, No. 14 Auburn and No. 12 Florida share the team lead at 4-under par 284. South Carolina, ranked 11th in the nation, is the only other team under par, finishing the round with a 1-under 287. Sixth-ranked Arkansas (291), No. 40 Georgia (293), No. 41 Tennessee (294), No. 47 Mississippi State (294) and No. 4 Vanderbilt (296) round out the top eight teams after day one.
In all, 10 of the league's 14 teams are ranked among the nation's top-50 teams according to Golfstat.com.
Individually, junior Jiwon Jeon leads Alabama in a tie for 19th place after firing a 1-over par 73. Junior Anna Reid, playing in just her third tournament of the year, carded a season-low round of 3-over 75 and is in a tie for 36th overall entering the second round of play. Reid and Jeon both shared the team lead with three birdies each on their round.
Junior Kenzie Wright turned in a 4-over par 76 on the par 72, 6,274-yard Legacy Course and is in a tie for 46th, while sophomore Angelica Moresco finished the day in a tie for 54th after carding a 77. Freshman Mary Mac Trammell rounds out the Tide golfers in 70th with an 87.
Alabama will try to make a move up the leaderboard on Thursday. The Crimson Tide will be paired with Texas A&M and Kentucky on Thursday and will tee off beginning at 9:10 a.m. CT. Live scoring is available throughout championship play at Golfstat.com.
