No.16 Alabama Women’s Golf Returns to Action This Weekend at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No.16-ranked Alabama women's golf team will look to defend its team title at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate for a fourth consecutive season when the three-day, 54-hole event tees off on Friday morning in Hilton Head, S.C. This year's tournament, which began in 2012 and is hosted by the University of South Carolina, will be held at the par 71, 6,160-yard Pete Dye Course at Long Cove Club.
This year's tournament boasts an impressive 17-team field with every team ranked among the nation's top-60, according to most recent Golfstat.com national rankings. Along with No. 16 Alabama, 11 of the teams are ranked in the top-20 including, No. 3 Duke, No. 4 UCLA, No. 6 Arkansas, No. 7 Vanderbilt, No. 10 South Carolina, No. 11 Auburn, No. 13 Wake Forest, No. 14 Virginia, No. 15 Northwestern and No. 19 Florida State. Also competing in the event is No. 23 Furman, No. 33 North Carolina, No. 36 Baylor, No. 38 Georgia, No. 56 LSU and No. 58 Oklahoma State.
Junior golfer Jiwon Jeon, who was just announced to the 2019 Arnold Palmer Cup as a member of the International Team that will take on the United States and co-head coach Mic Potter this June (click HERE for the full release), will lead the Crimson Tide in this weekend's event. Jeon, who comes into the Rucker ranked No.14 in the nation in the most recent Golfstat.com individual rankings, will play in the Tide's top slot. Joining Jeon will be fellow No. 61 Kenzie Wright and No. 81 Angelica Moresco. Freshmen Mary Mac Trammell and Carolina Caminoli will also be competing to round out Alabama's starting five.
The Crimson Tide will tee off on Hole No. 1 at 8:30 a.m. ET (7:30 a.m. CT) and will be paired alongside Duke and Northwestern. Live scoring throughout the event can be found on www.golfstat.com.
