HOOVER, Ala. – Alabama volleyball played a trio of exhibition matchups against a slate of Division-I teams Saturday at the Southern Performance Volleyball Spring Break Challenge, taking two sets from both Clemson and Mississippi State before dropping a pair to Georgia Tech.
The Crimson Tide played two sets against three teams, starting the day with 26-24 and 25-21 wins over the Tigers. Alabama continued with 25-16 and 25-15 decisions against the Bulldogs, but faltered in the day's final frames to the Yellow Jackets, 20-25 and 12-25.
"In the two matches this morning, the team competed and played with resilience," UA head coach Lindsey Devine said. "The team's energy and execution were reflective of the work we have put in at practice. In the afternoon, the discipline was inconsistent at times. Today's matchups revealed our areas of growth and the points of concentration for the upcoming weeks."
Over the day's six sets, Ashley Homan led the offense with 22 kills, while Doris Carter was right behind her with 21. Defensively, Kaylee Thomas added 24 digs.
Alabama will be back in action in Foster Auditorium Friday, April 12 at 7 p.m. CT against Jacksonville State. Admission to the match is free.
