Alabama Swimmers Earn Five Wins on Auburn Invitational’s Second Day

The Crimson Tide also picked up a trio of one-two sweeps on the middle day of the meet
AUBURN, Ala. – Alabama swimmers continued their winning ways on day two of the Auburn Invitational, winning five races, notching a trio of one-two sweeps in the James E. Martin Aquatic Center Saturday.
The Crimson Tide started the night off with a one-two finish in the women's 400 individual medley, with freshman Greta Szilvasi (4:18.18) and sophomore Mallory Underwood (4:18.67) finishing five seconds ahead of the field.
Jonathan Berneburg (47.56) and Colton Stogner (47.87) took first and second in the men's 100 butterfly, making it a freshman sweep for the Tide. Alabama also posted a one-two finish when sophomores Richard Miksi (53.78) and Josh Lenzmeier (53.83) got to the wall ahead of the field in the men's 100 breaststroke.
Freshman Ryan Ratliff stopped the clock at 1:36.50 in the men's 200 freestyle, taking the win, while senior Evan Heldman finished third with a 1:38.78.
Seniors Caroline Beene (54.55) and Nicole Raicik (55.25) finished first and third in the women's 100 butterfly. Freshman Cole Brown posted a 3:56.26 to take second in the men's 400 individual medley. Senior Emma Murray finished second in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:01.58.
Sophomore Sezin Eligul (54.53) and junior Lexi Souther (54.78) were second and third in the 100 backstroke, respectively, while junior Cameron Brown (1:49.09) and sophomore Julia Kukla (1:49.41) took fourth and fifth place in the 200 freestyle.
The Crimson Tide returns to action Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. CT prelims of the meet's final day.
