Alabama Track and Field Senior Keitavious Walter Wins Tyson Invitational 60-meters Race

The Crimson Tide posted 15 top-eight finishes across three different meets on Friday, including Walter’s win
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Alabama track and field senior Keitavious Walter won the 60 meters at the Tyson Invitational Friday night with a time of 6.63, ranking him 11th in the nation this season.
He shaved a hundredth of a second off his time in preliminaries to take the win in just his second meet of the indoor season.
Walter's win was one of 15 top-eight finishes for the Crimson Tide across three different meets in as many states this weekend.
In other Fayetteville action, Alabama posted a trio of top-eight finishes in the women's 400 meters. Sophomore D'Jai Baker (54.70) took third, senior Mauricia Prieto (54.81) was fifth and junior Natassha McDonald (55.57) took eighth.
Senior Kiara Williams finished sixth in the long jump invitational with a leap of 5.99-meters.
Sophomore Champion Allison posted a 46.97 in the fastest section of the men's 400 meters, taking sixth place. Junior Takyera Roberson took eighth in the fastest section of the women's 400 meters after posting a 54.00. Senior Skyler Bowden was eighth in the men's 400 meters after clocking a 47.80.
Sophomore Tamara Clark took eighth in the women's 60 meters, with a time of 7.41 after posting a 7.38 in prelims.
At the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tenn., freshman Bobby Colantonio took fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 70-11.75 (21.63m). Freshman Carl Nesbitt finished seventh in the men's high jump after clearing 6-7.50 (2.02m). Senior Portious Warren was ninth in the women's weight throw after a best effort of 62-10 (19.15m).
At the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa, seniors Gilbert Kigen (13:40.14) and Vincent Kiprop (13:41.21) finished sixth and eighth, respectively, in the men's 5,000 meters, while sophomore Rebecca Buteau took ninth in the women's 3,000 meters with a 9:36.50.
While Alabama is finished at the Iowa State Classic, the Crimson Tide returns to action at the Tyson Invitational and the Music City Challenge on Saturday.
