Alabama Outlasts Ole Miss in Regular Season Home Finale, 46-43

Sophomore Jasmine Walker and junior Cierra Johnson each recorded double-doubles to lead the Crimson Tide
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's basketball team grinded out a victory over Ole Miss, 46-43, in its final home game of the regular season on Thursday evening inside Coleman Coliseum. With the win, Alabama improves to 13-15 overall and 5-10 in SEC play. Ole Miss drops to 9-20 overall and 3-12 in SEC action.
"I thought our kids came out with a lot more energy in the third and fourth quarter and did some really good things," head coach Kristy Curry said. "In the second half we only gave up six (points) to (Crystal) Allen and gave up four offensive rebounds. We did not do a very good job in the first half rebounding the basketball and understanding who the center was. I thought we played a good second half and really gave ourselves a chance."
Sophomore Jasmine Walker and junior Cierra Johnson each notched double-doubles in the game to lead the Tide. Walker registered her sixth double-double of the season, scoring 13 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Johnson recorded her second consecutive and second overall double-double of her career, tallying 14 points and a career-best 14 boards. Sophomore Ariyah Copeland also put in 10 points to go along with seven rebounds in the win.
The Tide got out to a slow start as Ole Miss jumped out to a 10-4 lead after one quarter of action.
Alabama would open the second quarter on an 8-2 run to tie the game at 12-12 with 5:31 to go until halftime. The Rebels would respond with a 10-4 spurt to take a 22-16 lead at the half.
With Ole Miss leading 27-25, junior Ashley Knight converted an old-fashioned three-point play to give Alabama its first lead since the opening period, 28-27, with 3:52 remaining in the third. Shortly after, Walker converted another and-one to extend the Tide's lead to 31-27 with 3:02 left in the quarter. Alabama would go on to lead 36-33 heading into the fourth quarter.
Ole Miss was unable to cut into the Tide's lead in the fourth, as the Rebels' last second prayer came up short as Alabama preserved the 46-43 win.
The game was a battle on the boards, with Alabama ultimately gaining the edge, 46-41. The Crimson Tide also scored 24 of its 46 points in the painted area.
The Tide will return to action on Sunday, Mar. 3 when it travels to Columbia, Mo., to take on Missouri for the regular season finale. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on SEC Network +.
