TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The 13th week of the 2019 season in the National Football League wrapped up on Monday. Below is a look at some of the highlights from former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL.
Three former Tide members celebrated their Thanksgiving Day on the football field. Safety Eddie Jackson began the day's slate with two tackles and an interception for the Bears. Jackson's pick sealed the 24-20 win for Chicago over the Detroit Lions. Amari Cooper and the Dallas Cowboys followed later in the day. Cooper hauled in a team-high eight catches for 85 yards to improve his season total to 971 yards, good for fifth in the league. Calvin Ridley closed out the holiday schedule with a big night for the Atlanta Falcons. In the absence of fellow playmaker Julio Jones, Ridley grabbed a team-high eight passes for 91 yards.
Sunday featured some big offensive performances for the Tide. Both Derrick Henry and Josh Jacobs broke the 100-yard mark for their respective teams. Henry continued trending upward for the Titans, rushing 26 times for 149 yards and a touchdown while adding three catches for 17 yards. Thanks in part to his efforts, the Tennessee Titans downed their divisional rival, the Indianapolis Colts, 31-17, while Henry broke 1,000 yards rushing for a second consecutive season. Jacobs contributed 104 yards on 17 rushes for the Oakland Raiders, becoming the first Raiders rookie running back to rush for 1,000 yards in a single year.
On defense, Cleveland Browns rookie linebacker Mack Wilson made his presence known in his team's matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Wilson recorded a team-high eight tackles and forced a fumble. Also putting together an impresisve effort from the linebacker position was Dont'a Hightower. The three-time Super Bowl champion recorded six tackles, including a sack, to go with one quarterback pressure. Once again leading the defensive effort for the Redskins was Landon Collins. The safety recorded a team-high eight tackles and added one pass breakup to help Washington take down the Carolina Panthers, 29-21.
