Former Alabama players continue to excel on both sides of the football
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The 15th week of the 2019 season in the National Football League wrapped up on Monday. Below is a look at some of the highlights from former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL.
The new week of football featured a big showing from former Crimson Tide running backs Mark Ingram and Kenyan Drake. Ingram began the week by helping the Baltimore Ravens secure their spot in the playoffs thanks to a 42-21 win over the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football. The veteran back contributed 76 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries while also catching one pass for a 10-yard touchdown in the win. On Sunday, Drake excelled with a career day for Arizona, as he rushed 22 times for a season-high 137 and scored a career-best four rushing touchdowns. He also added one catch for a nine-yard gain to help push the Cardinals past the Cleveland Browns, 38-24.
Julio Jones continued to be a steady presence for the Atlanta Falcons. Jones caught a season-high 13 passes for 134 yards and two scores. His final catch of the game came in the end zone to help secure the 29-22 win over the San Francisco 49ers. He continues to rank in the top 10 in nearly every receiving category, highlighted by his 1,150 yards, a number that is fifth-best in the NFL.
The duo of Jonathan Allen and Ryan Anderson had big days on Sunday for the Washington Redskins. Allen finished with a season-high nine tackles, including two for a loss, and recovered a fumble. The fumble was one of three forced by Anderson against the Philadelphia Eagles. His three forced fumbles in one game were the most by any player in the NFL this season and marked the first time since 2016 where one player forced three fumbles in the same game. Anderson added five tackles, including two sacks and a tackle for loss in the intra-divisional pairing.
Mack Wilson continued his standout rookie campaign, recording seven tackles and his first interception of the season for the Browns. Joining him with an interception was Levi Wallace. The Buffalo corner finished with six tackles and an interception. Wallace's pick ended the Pittsburgh Steelers' comeback effort on Sunday Night Football as Bills came away with a 17-10 win to punch their ticket to the playoffs.
