Alabama Football Places Six Players on the AFCA Coaches’ All-America Team

Jeudy and Leatherwood earn first-team honors; Davis, Diggs, McKinney and Wills Jr. receive second-team nods
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama Crimson Tide landed six players on the 2019 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America Team, the association announced Wednesday.
Wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, offensive lineman Alex Leatherwood were first team selections while defensive lineman Raekwon Davis, defensive back Trevon Diggs, safety Xavier McKinney and offensive lineman Jedrick Wills Jr. were second-team choices.
Alabama has now had 82 players honored a total of 88 times by the AFCA, the most of any program in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
FIRST TEAM
Jerry Jeudy, Wide Receiver
- An elite wideout who leads all Tide receivers with 71 catches totaling 959 yards and nine touchdowns
- Paces all UA receivers with 47 catches that have gone for a first down or touchdown this season
- Ranks second for the Tide with 25 explosive receptions of 16-plus yards
- Recorded 25 career touchdown catches to rank second all-time in the Alabama record books
- Fifth on the Crimson Tide's career receiving yards list 2,538 yards on 153 catches
- Totaled 100-plus yards receiving in nine games during his career, including four matchups in 2019
Alex Leatherwood, Offensive Lineman
- Graded out at 90 percent for the season
- Allowed only two sacks and three quarterback hurries in 694 snaps
- Missed only six assignments (99.1 percent)
SECOND TEAM
Raekwon Davis, Defensive Lineman
- Veteran leader along the Crimson Tide's defensive front
- Totaled 45 tackles on the season
- Added two tackles for loss (-6 yards) and half sack (-4 yards) to go with four quarterback pressures
- Named to the Bednarik Award and Nagurski Trophy watch lists
Trevon Diggs, Cornerback
- Totaled 37 tackles from his starting corner spot, including half a tackle for loss (-1 yard)
- Picked off three passes with a combined 79 yards in returns while adding eight pass breakups
- Recorded two defensive touchdowns this season, scoring on an 84-yard pick-six and a 100-plus yard fumble return
Xavier McKinney, Safety
- Ranks 12th in the SEC in tackles with 85, a total that leads all Alabama defenders
- Added 4.5 tackles for loss (-32 yards) and two sacks (-13 yards)
- Has forced four fumbles and added three interceptions to go with five breakups
- Returned one of his interceptions for an 81-yard touchdown
Jedrick Wills Jr., Offensive Tackle
- Has anchored an Alabama offensive line that has surrendered only 12 sacks in 381 pass attempts
- Graded out at over 91 percent, allowing only one sack and 3.5 quarterback hurries
- Missed a total of seven assignments across his 714 snaps for a 99.9 percent success rate
