BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama freshman Alyiah Wells was selected to the Southeastern Conference's Volleyball All-Freshman team, it was announced Sunday.
Wells is the sixth player in program history to be named to the SEC All-Freshman team and the first since teammate Hayley McSparin earned the honor in 2016. The Memphis, Tenn., native started all 29 matches during her debut campaign at middle blocker with a team-leading .316 hitting percentage. Her 109 blocks led all SEC freshmen and ranked fifth overall.
"Alyiah was an impact player all year for our team," UA head coach Lindsey Devine said. "She was driven to improve every day and was committed to laying the foundation for our program. It is fantastic to see the SEC coaches recognize her for this and we are extremely proud of her."
