Alabama Soccer Lands Four on All-SEC Team

Reyes, Wertz. B. Martin, and Giammona earn all-conference honors
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After an exciting regular season, freshmen Reyna Reyes and Carlee Giammona, as well as juniors Brynn Martin and Casey Wertz earned all-conference honors, as announced by the league's office on Sunday. Reyes was named to the first team, Wertz and Martin were named to second team, and Giammona and Reyes were tabbed to the all-freshman team.
This is the first season in program history that Alabama has four players receiving honors. This is the first conference award among all of Alabama's honorees.
Freshman Reyna Reyes snagged first team and all-freshman All-SEC honors after being a standout player throughout her rookie season. The multifaceted midfielder and defender has played and started in 16 matches acquiring 1404 minutes on the pitch. The Garland, Texas native has accumulated three goals and one assist on the year.
Junior Casey Wertz earned second team All-SEC honors due to her strong offensive performance as a forward. The Marietta, Ga. native has emerged as the team's leading scorer for the last two seasons, surpassing her 2018 total (16p – 8g) in the Tide's last regular season game (17p – 5g,7a). Wertz ties for sixth in assists within the league.
Junior Brynn Martin also secured a spot on the second team. As an anchor within the Alabama defense, Martin has seen action and started in all 18 matches this season, playing a whopping 1614 minutes. The Littleton, Colo. native has amassed three goals and one assist, accumulating a total of seven points.
Freshman Carlee Giammona joins Reyes on the All-Freshman team. Giammona surfaced as a dominating offensive presence, leading the team in shots taken, 50. The Las Vegas, Nev. Native tallied three goals, delivered two assists, and totaled eight points after 1266 minutes on the pitch. Giammona ranks tenth in the league in shots and at ninth in shots per game, averaging 2.78 a match. This is the first time since 2012 that Alabama has two rookie athletes on the All-Freshman team.
