Alabama Rowing Earns Gold and Five Top-5 Finishes on Day One at Head of the Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Alabama Rowing team concluded day one of the Head of the Oklahoma regatta with five Top-5 finishes under its belt, including one gold medal.

Freshmen Jordan Bradburne, Lily Butler, Emma Ewell, Justine Hobbs, and Rachael Tullis placed first in the Women's Collegiate Novice/Frosh 4+. This is the first gold medal for Alabama in the 2019-20 season, and this event also marked the first college race for all five members.

Other Top-5 Finishes include second in the Women's Collegiate 8+ (Alabama A), fourth in the Women's Collegiate 4+ (Alabama A), fifth in the Women's Open 2X, and third in the Women's Collegiate 8+ 500m Grand Final (Alabama B).

We will compete in two events tomorrow on Day Two, the Women's Collegiate 1X and the Women's Open 2-.

"It was a good opening to the season. It was fun to race and see what we are doing well and see the things we can improve. We can see the progress we are making in the results. We also know that while we are getting better, we still have work to do to get where we ultimately want to be. We were really happy for the frosh. They had fun and found success."
