Former Alabama players continue their success on both sides of the ball
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The fourth week of the 2019 season in the National Football League wrapped up on Monday. Below is a look at some of the highlights from former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL.
A pair of former safeties had impressive performances in week four. Landon Collins contributed nine tackles for the Washington Redskins while Ronnie Harrison picked off his first pass of the season and added five tackles in the Jacksonville Jaguars' last-second win over the Denver Broncos.
Monday night featured a former Alabama player making his presence known on the big stage for a second straight week. Mark Barron led the Pittsburgh Steelers in tackles with 11 while adding one interception. The linebacker's efforts helped the Steelers get their first win of the season as they downed the Cincinnati Bengals, 27-3, on Monday Night Football.
Also excelling in the AFC North was rookie Mack Wilson. Starting his second game in as many weeks, Wilson collected seven tackles and added one pass defense in the Cleveland Browns' dominant win over the Baltimore Ravens, 40-25. Another former Crimson Tide linebacker put together a big day with Rashaan Evans totaling double-digit tackles for Tennessee. The Titans' backer made 11 stops, including half a sack, while pressuring the quarterback twice on the afternoon.
Evans' teammate Derrick Henry continued his hot start to the new season with another 100-yard performance on the ground. The former Heisman Trophy winner rushed 27 times for those 100 yards while adding one catch for a gain of eight in Tennessee's road win over the Atlanta Falcons by a score of 24-10.
Alabama's other Heisman Trophy winner, Mark Ingram, totaled 71 yards on 12 rushes for the Ravens while rookie Josh Jacobs contributed 79 yards rushing and 29 yards receiving in the Oakland Raiders' 31-24 win over the Indianapolis Colts. Jacobs currently leads all first-year backs in rushing yards and is in the top-10 for rushing among all backs in the NFL through the first four weeks.
