Alabama Women’s Golf Leads the Landfall Tradition After Opening Day

All five Crimson Tide women stand within the top-30 in the tournament field
WILMINGTON, N.C. – All five Crimson Tide women's golfers stand in the top-30 as Alabama is tied for first after the opening day of the Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall.
No. 13 Alabama fired off a 3-under par 285 to lead the tournament field along with Illinois. Virginia sits one off the lead at 2-under par 286 following the first round.
A Look at the Alabama Lineup
- As a team, the Crimson Tide recorded the most eagles and also had the best scoring average (4.00, even) of any team on par four holes.
- Junior Angelica Moresco's impressive round of 3-under par 69 featured three birdies and an eagle on hole No. 7. The Caldogno, Italy, native is tied for second place and sits just one-stroke behind the clubhouse leader, UCF's Tunrada Piddon at 4-under par 68.
- Behind Moresco, is senior Kenzie Wright at 1-under par 71, who finished the day tied for ninth. Wright led the field in total pars during the first round with 15.
- Junior Polly Mack shot an even par 72 following a rocky beginning with a double bogey on hole two. Mack ended the round with a team-leading four birdies notched on her scorecard.
- Freshman Caroline Curtis carded the second eagle for the Crimson Tide, finishing 1-over par 73. Curtis also led the field on par 5 holes averages (4.25).
- After an early bogey and double bogey, freshman Emilie Øverås finished at 1-over par 73 and shot 2-under par in the back nine.
