Alabama places three on the FWAA Freshman All-American Team Midseason Watch List
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama football team held it second full-pad practice of the week today, working for two hours at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields on Wednesday afternoon. The session was the third of the week as the team prepares to face Arkansas in UA's annual Homecoming game on Saturday.
ESPN will air this weekend's meeting with the Razorbacks from Bryant-Denny Stadium at 6:00 p.m. CT Saturday, Oct. 26, with Dave Pasch, Tom Luginbill and Greg McElroy on the call.
Mid-Season Honors
Also on Wednesday, freshmen linebackers Christian Harris, Shane Lee and offensive lineman Evan Neal were named to the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) Freshman All-American Team Midseason Watch List. Lee and Neal have started in all seven games this season, while Harris has started in all but one game and played in all seven. Lee has recorded 44 tackles so far and has also added 2.5 sacks (-12 yards) to rank third across all SEC freshmen. Harris leads all SEC freshman defenders in tackles for loss with five (-9 yards) and has totaled 34 tackles to rank fifth among first-year defenders in the league.
Alabama head coach Nick Saban has been named to the Paul "Bear" Bryant Coach of the Year Watch List. The award, which honors the top head coach in college football, has been presented annually since 1987. Gene Stallings was Alabama's first recipient of the award in 1992. Saban has won the award once before, while coaching at LSU in 2003.
