Former Alabama players continue to excel on both sides of the football
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The sixth week of the 2019 season in the National Football League wrapped up on Monday. Below is a look at some of the highlights from former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL.
Former Alabama defenders put together a big week, highlighted by Landon Collins' 12 tackle performance to help lead the Washington Redskins to a 17-16 victory at Miami. Collins added a sack, two pass breakups and a forced fumble on his way to NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors from the league. Joining him with an impressive performance for the Redskins was Jonathan Allen, with the defensive lineman recording three tackles, including two sacks, and breaking up one pass.
Also posting a strong performance up front on the defense was Dalvin Tomlinson, with the Giants' tackle recording seven tackles in New York's matchup with the New England Patriots a week ago. Moving back a level, Tennessee linebacker Rashaan Evans collected 10 tackles in the Titans' matchup at Denver. Rounding out the defensive efforts by former Tide members was Marlon Humphrey. The corner finished with an interception, two pass breakups and a tackle for the Baltimore Ravens.
On the offensive side of the ball, Humphrey's teammate Mark Ingram had another big game out of the backfield. The veteran running back rushed 13 times for 52 yards and a touchdown while adding two catches for 22 yards through the air. Also on offense, the Atlanta Falcons' wide receiver duo of Calvin Ridley and Julio Jones excelled once again. Ridley caught four passes for 48 yards and a touchdown while Jones posted another 100-plus yard performance, going for 108 yards on a team-high tying eight catches.
