Alabama Men’s Tennis Ready for Main Draw of ITA Southern Regional Championships

AUBURN, Ala. – Alabama will look ahead to the main draw of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southern Regional Championships after junior Sam Fischer and freshman Avi Shugar fell in their qualifying matches on Thursday in Auburn, Ala.

Round-by-Round

Shugar dropped his match to Misha Fomenkov from the University of New Orleans, 6-3, 7-6, while Fischer lost 6-3, 6-1, to Tim Dollman of Auburn.
In consolations the two won their respective matches with Shugar besting Mohamed Ali Bellalouna (Samford), 6-3, 7-6, while Fischer defeated Timothy Dixon (Samford), 6-3, 6-0.

Tournament Note

Fischer suffered his first loss of the season and is now 4-1 in singles in his junior campaign.

Up Next

The two will play another two consolation matches on Friday.
The main draw of doubles and singles will begin on Saturday.
