AJ Crooks Named SEC Freshman of the Week

The Crimson Tide goalkeeper earns first SEC weekly award of the season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama freshman goalkeeper AJ Crooks has been announced as the SEC Freshman of the Week, the league office revealed Monday afternoon.
A native of Spokane, Wash., Crooks collected six saves against No. 17 Texas A&M, helping Alabama to its first non-loss against a ranked opponent of the season, a 1-1 tie. She held the Aggies to only one goal after facing 15 shots as well as four corner kick attempts, logging a career-high 110 minutes through two overtime periods.
The Crimson Tide freshman also led the Tide to its fourth shutout of the season against LSU, a 3-0 victory, facing two huge saves at 0-0.
In her six total college appearances, Crooks has collected four wins with three being versus conference opponents. All of Alabama's SEC conference wins have been with the freshman between the posts.
Crooks is the first Alabama player to be named SEC Freshman of the Week since Oct. 23, 2017 when Chloe Maize was honored after notching the game-winning goal against the Arkansas Razorbacks.
The Tide is back in action on Thursday, Oct. 17 in Oxford, Miss. as they face Ole Miss at 6 p.m. CT in another SEC West matchup.
