The Crimson Tide earned its third tie against a ranked opponent in program history

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Alabama soccer team tied the No. 17 Texas A&M Aggies, 1-1 at Ellis Field after 110 minutes of play.

Within the first half, the Crimson Tide defense put up a strong front. The Aggies fired out six shots with three corner kick attempts but were ultimately unable to score. Alabama's best scoring opportunity in the half was a cross play by junior Taylor Morgan to freshman Carlee Giammona in the 13^th minute, but Giammona's shot hit the cross bar. Both teams entered the half scoreless.

Alabama took the 1-0 lead in the 66^th minute during a tight battle off a corner kick inside the box. The ball rolled into the net after bouncing off a Texas A&M player, earning an own goal. However, they squared it up in the 82^nd minute with a goal by Jimena Lopez, launching a free kick from 30 yards out.

After playing two overtime periods, the match ended in a 1-1 tie.

The Aggies outshot the Tide, 15-10. Giammona led the squad with four shots, followed by junior Casey Wertz with two.
The Tide earned two more corner kicks than Texas A&M (6-4). Alabama currently ranks #1 in the SEC in corner kicks earned, 109 in 13 games played.
Freshman goalkeeper AJ Crooks collected six saves throughout the match.
This is the third time in program history Alabama has tied a ranked opponent.
