Alabama Back on the Road for Matchup Against Georgia on Sunday

The Crimson Tide will try to get back on track versus the Lady Bulldogs
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's basketball team seeks to get back on track when it plays against Georgia on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. CT inside Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Ga.
The Crimson Tide (10-10, 2-5 SEC) and Lady Bulldogs (12-7, 3-3 SEC) have both lost their last two SEC contests.
THE BROADCAST
• Thursday's game will air live on ESPNU with Eric Frede (play-by-play) and Christy Thomaskutty (analyst) on the call.
• The game can also be heard on the Crimson Tide Sports Network on 100.1 FM in Tuscaloosa with Roger Hoover on the broadcast.
OPENING TIP
• Alabama will look to get back on track when it takes on Georgia on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. CT in Athens, Ga.
• The Crimson Tide (10-10, 2-5 SEC) has lost its last two SEC games after falling at home to LSU and on the road against Arkansas.
• The Lady Bulldogs (12-7, 3-3 SEC) have also dropped their last two SEC contests after losing to Missouri and Texas A&M.
• This is the 51st meeting between the two schools with Georgia holding the 39-11 all-time advantage. The last two meetings between the Lady Bulldogs and Crimson Tide have ended with UGA on top in overtime. Alabama has lost its last 12 contests in Athens and has only defeated UGA on its home court three times in history, in 1997, 1993 and in 1977.
ABOUT GEORGIA
• The Lady Bulldogs last played on Jan. 20 when it lost at home to Texas A&M, 76-66. UGA has lost its last two SEC contests.
• Georgia ranks first in the nation in blocked shots on the season, with 124 through 19 games.
• Taja Cole ranks first in the SEC with 6.6 assists per game to go along with 10.8 points per game, Caliya Robinson leads the squad with 13.7 points and. 7.8 rebounds per contest. Gabby Connally also adds 13.2 points per game.
• Last season the Lady Bulldogs ended with a 26-7 overall record and a 12-4 mark in SEC play. Georgia fell in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to Duke.
NEWS AND NOTES
• Sophomores Jasmine Walker and Ariyah Copeland both put up double-doubles in the loss against Arkansas (Jan. 24), with Walker posting 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Copeland had 11 points and 10 boards. The two double-doubles in one game marked the first time since 2013 two Crimson Tide players had double-doubles in the same contest.
• Walker is the team's second leading scorer and leading rebounder with 14.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Walker also leads the team with four double-doubles this season and has six games in which she has registered double-digit rebounds. At 38.7 percent from the three-point line, Walker is first on the team in percentage and three-pointers made (36). Her 14.1 points ranks 14th in the league, while her 7.4 rebounds per contest ranks T-11th in the SEC. In seven conference games, Walker is averaging 15.6 points per game which is 12th in the league. Walker has been on fire from beyond the arc in the last seven games, knocking down 19-of-41 (46.3 percent) from the three-point land, which is third in the conference.
• Junior Cierra Johnson is currently first on the team with 14.4 points per game and in total assists with 59 through 20 games. Johnson is also the top-rebounding guard on the squad and third on the team with 4.6 per contest. At the beginning of SEC play, Johnson moved from shooting guard to starting at the point guard position with the injury to Jordan Lewis. Over those seven contests, Johnson is averaging 16.0 points (9th in SEC), 5.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists. She has also shot 31-of-41 (75.6 percent) from the free throw line in SEC play which ranks 14th in the conference.
• Getting off to a hot start has been key for the Tide this season, when leading at half UA is 9-0, while when trailing, 1-10.
• Copeland's improvement can be spotted on the court and on the stat sheet. Through 20 games this season Copeland is tops on the team with 1.4 blocks per game (7th in SEC) and second on the squad with 6.8 rebounds (17th in SEC) per contest. Copeland is also putting up 8.1 points per game, compared to averaging three points a game a season ago. The Columbus, Ga., native is second on the team with three double-doubles this season and has started the last 11 games for the Tide.
