The Crimson Tide practiced prior to a quick intrasquad scrimmage to open spring ball
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama baseball team began its spring practice slate on Friday afternoon, putting in a quick workout followed by an intrasquad scrimmage at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.
Friday's session began at 1 p.m. CT with the Crimson Tide taking part in drills prior to batting practice and infield/outfield work. Following the practice, the Tide split into two teams for a four-inning intrasquad scrimmage to close out day one's on-field activity. Things wrapped up with head coach Brad Bohannon, along with sophomore catcher Sam Praytor and junior infielder Morgan McCullough, speaking with the media.
"It was really exciting today," said Bohannon. "The kids have done a great job of coming back from the break in good shape. We've practiced enough – we've hit enough batting practice and taken a lot of ground balls – so it was really good to get to scrimmage today. For it to be January 25, I was really pleased with how it went."
Alabama will take part in two more practice-scrimmage splits on Saturday and Sunday to close out week one. Both days will begin with practice at 11 a.m. followed by an intrasquad scheduled for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
All practice and scrimmage dates are open to fans wanting to watch. Attendees are asked to enter Sewell-Thomas Stadium through the main gate (Gate 3) located directly behind home plate. Once inside, fans are encouraged to stay in the lower bowl seating area, as access to the upper levels of the stadium is restricted.
