
Montana Fouts and Skylar Wallace Accept 2019 Junior Women’s National Team Tryout Invitation

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama freshmen Montana Fouts and Skylar Wallace are among the list of invitees for the 2019 Junior Women's National Team selection trials that will take place Dec. 28-Jan. 1 at the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex in Clearwater, Fla.
The group of 28 invitees are vying for 20 spots on the 2019 USA Softball JWNT training team which will compete at the USA Softball International Cup. Seventeen of those 20 athletes will be selected to participate in the World Baseball Softball Confederation Junior Women's World Cup next fall in Irvine, Calif. The USA Softball JWNT will be fighting for a third-straight WBSC title in 2019, winning previously in 2017 and 2015.
Fouts arrives at Alabama following an illustrious prep career at East Carter High School in Grayson, Ky., as a three-time Gatorade State Player of the Year and four-time Max Preps All-American. This past season, she was named the ALL-USA High School Player of the Year by USA Today and the MaxPreps National Player of the Year after posting a 37-1 record with 31 shutouts and 12 no-hitters, including eight perfect games. She allowed just nine runs, three earned, over 232.1 innings pitched for a 0.09 ERA while striking out 481 batters. She also hit 64-113 (.566) with 71 RBIs and 32 extra-base hits, including 12 home runs.
Wallace is a native of Woodstock, Ga., where she played at Etowah High School. As a senior, she led her team to a runner-up finish at the GHSA State Championship and was named the 2017 7AAAAAA Region Player of the Year. She won 5AAAAAA Region Player of the Year honors two years ago as well and is a three-time All-State and All-Region honoree. This past summer, she helped her club team, Georgia Impact, win the PGF 18U Premier National Championship.
