Former Alabama players stood out on both sides of the ball last weekend
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The third week of the 2018-19 season in the National Football League wrapped up on Monday. Below is a look at some of the highlights from former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL during week three.
Atlanta Falcons wideout Calvin Ridley had a breakout game against the New Orleans Saints. Ridley hauled in seven catches for 146 yards and three touchdowns to average 20.9 yards per grab with a long of 75. In addition to Ridley, fellow Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones caught five passes for 96 yards in Atlanta's overtime loss to the Saints.
Miami Dolphins safety Minkah Fitzpatrick earned his first NFL start Sunday in the team's 28-20 win over the Oakland Raiders. The rookie finished with 10 total tackles and was on the field for 97 percent of the Dolphins' defensive snaps. Fitzpatrick's contributions help the Dolphins improve to a perfect 3-0 on the young season.
Packers safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix had continued his consistent ways with another strong performance in the Green Bay secondary. Clinton-Dix combined for five tackles and added an interception for the second straight game in a 31-17, losing effort to the Washington Redskins. In the same game, Redskins defensive linemen Johnathan Allen and Da'Ron Payne combined for 10 total tackles and three sacks. Linebackers Shaun Dion Hamilton and Ryan Anderson also contributed to the Redskins defensive success, having a combined three total tackles.
Kareem Jackson had a big day in the secondary for the Houston Texans. Jackson posted a team-high tying nine total tackles and added one pass breakup in a losing effort against the New York Giants, 27-22. Through three weeks, the safety leads the Texans in tackles at 16.
Eddie Jackson played a big role in Chicago's 16-14 win over the Arizona Cardinals. Jackson combined for three tackles and recorded an interception for the Bears, part of the team's four forced turnovers in the winning effort.
