
Edson Ortiz and Patrick Kaukovalta Go Undefeated in Day One at Milwaukee Tennis Classic

The two won their respective singles matches and earned a bye in doubles play
MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Junior Edson Ortiz and sophomore Patrick Kaukovalta each won their singles matches in the opening round at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic in Milwaukee, Wis. The duo also earned a first round bye in doubles play.
The No. 15-seeded Kaukovalta started the day by defeating Marino Alpeza (Minnesota), 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, while No. 7-seeded Ortiz cruised to a 6-2, 6-2, victory over Fletcher Scott (Illinois). Kaukovalta will advance to take on fellow SEC-foe Andrew Rogers (Tennessee) and Ortiz will play Piotr Smietana (Iowa) with the times to be announced.
In doubles, the tandem will play Shick/Ogden (NC State). Play at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic will begin at 8 a.m. each day with a round of singles and doubles.
