Former Alabama players continue their success on both sides of the ball
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The second week of the 2018-19 season in the National Football League wrapped up on Monday evening. Below is a look at some of the week two highlights from former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL.
Rookie wideout Calvin Ridley hauled in the first touchdown grab of his career for the Atlanta Falcons as part of his four-reception performance totaling 64 yards. Fellow Falcon wide receiver Julio Jones continued to lead the team in receptions with five catches for 65 yards. The combined efforts of the two former Alabama standouts helped the Falcons clinch a 31-24 victory over the Carolina Panthers.
Running back Kenyan Drake played a big role in the Miami Dolphins' 20-12 win over the New York Jets. Drake carried 11 times for 53 yards and a touchdown, while adding four catches for 17 yards through the air. On the other side of the ball, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick contributed three tackles and helped limit the Jets to only one touchdown.
Eddie Jackson contributed in multiple areas for the Chicago Bears defense in the team's 24-17 win over the Seattle Seahawks. Jackson registered three tackles, including a sack, and added a pass breakup and a forced fumble to his Monday Night Football performance.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end O.J. Howard had a big day in the Bucs' win over the defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles. Howard brought in three catches for 96 yards, highlighted by a 75-yard grab that went for his first touchdown of the new season.
Green Bay Packers punter JK Scott impressed in week two against divisional rival Minnesota. Scott punted five times for an average of 51.8 and a long of 63 with two of his punts being downed inside the 20. On the defensive side of the ball, safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix recorded three tackles along with picking off a pass in the fourth quarter to halt a potential game-winning drive by the Vikings in the 29-29 tie.
