Alabama Football Opens 2018 Training Camp

Two-hour session at Thomas-Drew Practice Fields kicks off 2018 season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama football team opened its 2018 training camp on Friday afternoon with a two-hour practice in helmets at shorts at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields.
Friday began a series of 25 practices for the top-ranked Crimson Tide as it prepares for its season-opening contest with Louisville in the Camping World Kickoff Game at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla., on Saturday, Sept. 1. The match-up between the Tide and Cardinals is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT on ABC.
Alabama returns 12 starters from last season's squad that finished 13-1 and won the school's 17th national championship. The Tide has claimed four of the last six SEC titles and five of the last nine national championships. Across the last 10 seasons under head coach Nick Saban Alabama owns a 125-14 (.899) record.
Camp opened at 2:30 p.m. CT with the entire squad taking part in drills during the two-hour practice. Alabama head coach Nick Saban then with the media following Friday's practice. The will follow today's practice with the team's annual Fan Day on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The team's 2:30 p.m. CT practice on Saturday is open to the public with players and coaches available for autographs for 45 minutes beginning at approximately 4:45 p.m. CT.
