
Ortiz Drops Hard-Fought Battle in Finals of 2018 Oracle ITA National Summer Championships

The Chihuahua, Mexico, native fell to Jake Van Emburgh (OU) 7-6(4), 7-6(6)
FORT WORTH, Texas – Edson Ortiz dropped a tough match in the finals of the 2018 Oracle ITA National Summer Championships to Jake Van Emburgh (OU), 7-6(4), 7-6(6), on Tuesday afternoon in Fort Worth, Texas.
Ortiz had a chance to push the match to a third set after going up 6-5 in the second, however, Van Emburgh responded by winning the next game and the eventual tiebreaker, 8-6, to claim the championship.
Despite the loss, the rising junior has already earned a wild card spot into the qualifying draw of the ITA All-American Championships on Oct. 1-8 in Tulsa, Okla.
