Alabama Track & Field Lands 10 on USTFCCCA All-Academic Individual List

Men’s and women’s squads also named to All-Academic Teams list
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Ten members of the 2018 Alabama track & field program have been named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's All-Academic Individual list, the association announced Thursday.
In addition to the individual honors, both the UA men's and women's teams were among the Division I programs named to the USTFCCCA's 2018 All-Academic Teams list. The honors are the fourth for the men and seventh for the women under Crimson Tide head coach Dan Waters.
Men's individual honorees include 2018 junior Vincent Kiprop (3.68/General Studies) and freshmen Christian Edwards (3.43/Human Performance Exercise Science) and Jake Spotswood (3.81/Human Performance Exercise Science).
The women's list included 2018 seniors Britainy Smith (3.28/Human Performance Exercise Science) and Kaitlin Walker (3.77/Food and Nutrition); freshmen Colleen Clancy (4.00/Human Performance Exercise Science), Tamara Clark (3.59/Pre-Major Studies), Daija Lampkin (4.00/Biology) and Jaimie Robinson (3.70/Criminal Justice) along with redshirt freshman McKenzie Yanek (4.00/Human Performance Exercise Science).
To qualify for USTFCCCA honors, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 with an indoor season rank among the top 96 in an individual event or top 48 in a relay or have participated in either the NCAA East or West Preliminary or the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
The Crimson Tide men and women finished with GPAs of 3.14 and 3.53, respectively, during the 2017-18 academic year to earn team recognition from the USTFCCCA. The men have now been honored 15 times and the women 11 times since the award's inception following the 1995-96 season.
