Alabama’s Nicole Lane Named Big 12 Rowing Scholar-Athlete of the Year

The Alabama senior captain is the first Crimson Tide rower in program history to receive the honor
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama senior captain Nicole Lane was selected as the 2018 Big 12 Rowing Scholar-Athlete of the Year, it was announced Friday. Lane is the first Crimson Tide rower in program history to receive the honor.
The award adds to a stellar career resume, having been named to the 2017 CRCA All-South Region Team, 2017 All-Big 12 Rowing Team and 2018 All-Big 12 Rowing Team.
Last fall, Lane was a part of Alabama's Women's Club 4+ that won gold with a course-record time at the prestigious Head of the Charles in Boston. In the spring, Lane competed in the First Varsity 8+, winning both races at the Big 12 Double Dual and helping propel the Tide to win nine of ten possible races. For her efforts at this year's conference meet, Lane earned All-Big 12 honors.
Lane was equally successful in the classroom this season, earning CRCA Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-Big 12 recognition. She was one of 12 Tide honorees on the Academic All-Big 12 list to post a perfect 4.0 GPA, the most of any team in the league.
