Alabama Swimming and Diving Among National Leaders in CSCAA Scholar All-America Honors

The Crimson Tide men were first nationally with 20 CSCAA Scholar All-Americans, the women were ninth with 14 and Alabama was second in combined men’s and women’s honors with 34
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama men's and women's swimming and diving teams ranked second among all NCAA Division I teams in terms of College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar-Americans with 34 it was announced Wednesday.
"Our mission is to build a culture of excellence that will enable each individual on the team to fulfill their full potential in the pool, in the classroom and in life," UA head coach Dennis Pursley said. "We are very proud of the national-level accolades that our student-athletes are continuing to earn in the classroom."
The Crimson Tide men's team led the nation with 20 honors while the women were ninth with 14. As a team, the Alabama men posted a 3.56 team grade point average in the spring, which ranked third among NCAA Division I schools and first among teams that finished in the top-20 at the NCAA Championships. Â The Tide women posted a 3.46 GPA in the spring.
On the men's side of the slate, Matthew Adams, Laurent Bams, Robert Howard, Luke Kaliszak, Christopher Reid, Tyler Sesvold, Zane Waddell and Braxton Young were selected to the first team while Christian Arseneau, Knox Auerbach, Jack Blake, Michael Burris, Will Freeman, Evan Heldman, Daniel Kober, Kyle Maas, Richard Miksi, David Morton, Alex Robinson and Christian Strycker earned honorable mention recognition.
For the women, Leonie Kullmann, Justine Macfarlane, Bailey Scott and Temarie Tomley earned first team honors while Sezin Eligul, Alina Faunce, Sarah Helm, Paige Matherson, Emma Murray, Hannah Musser, Lexi Souther, Kaila Wong, Ayanna Woods and Marian Yurchishin earned honorable-mention accolades.
The first team recognizes student-athletes who achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and competed at their respective NCAA Championships.  Honorable mention goes to those with a 3.5 or better GPA who have achieved an NCAA "B" standard.
Both the Tide men and women once again earned CSCAA Scholar All-America team honors as well.
