Alabama Swimmer Zane Waddell Posts World Top-20 Swim at Invitational

The rising junior posted a 25.14 in the 50-meter backstroke at the Richard Quick Invitational
AUBURN, Ala. – Alabama swimmer Zane Waddell bettered the field by more than a second in the 50-meter backstroke at the 2018 Richard Quick Invitational this past weekend, posting a time of 25.14, which ranks him top 20 in the world this year. The meet was held in Auburn, Ala.
In other action, Robert Howard (22.70) and Waddell (22.85) went one-two in the 50m freestyle while Waddell also took second in both the 50m butterfly (24.60) and 100m backstroke (56.18)
Howard went on to win the 100m freestyle with a 49.33 and was third in the 200 freestyle at 1:50.23. Waddell took second in the 100m freestyle after posting a 50.35. Waddell closed out a busy weekend with a 55.25 in the 100m butterfly, taking third place.
Caroline Beene took third in the 50m butterfly with a time of 28.11. Allie Surrency took third place in the 50m freestyle after touching the wall at 26.71.
Overall, Crimson Tide swimmers medaled 11 times over the three-day event.
