TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama All-American Shelby McEwen will compete in the men's high jump at the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships this weekend at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.
McEwen, who won the high jump at the 2018 Southeastern Conference indoor and outdoor championships in his first season in Tuscaloosa, is one of 15 men entered in the event at the USATF championships. The men's high jump is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. CT on Sunday, June 24.
McEwen cleared a personal-best 7-6 (2.26m) to finish second at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in March. The mark ranks No. 2 all-time on the UA indoor list. The Abbeville, Miss., native posted an outdoor personal best of 7-4 ½ (2.25m) at the SEC Outdoor Championships in May and earned a second place finish at the NCAA outdoor meet earlier this month with a clearance of 7-3 (2.21m).
The USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships will run from June 21-24 and will air on NBC and NBC Sports. A live stream of Sunday's men's high jump competition will be available via NBCSports.com. Broadcast coverage of Sunday's events will begin at 3 p.m. CT on NBC.
